Eminent University of Melbourne economist Professor Ross Garnaut, will open the Sustainable Sunraysia Festival on March 17 th at Ornamental Lakes
The organisers of this year’s Sustainable Sunraysia Festival are delighted that Professor Garnaut has offered his time to address issues of sustainability with the Sunraysia public. As an economist he should not be missed in providing a blue print for our economic and environmental future. 

Formerly operated as the Mildura Sun Festival this years festival shapes up to be full of exciting and innovative ideas for sustainable living, with a wide range of speakers, exhibitors and interactive workshops showcasing all things ‘sustainabilty’.    

                                                                                                                              

The event held over three days incorporates a Business Breakfast Forum, the Festival Day, Sunday Lecture and Strawbale House Tour.


Business Breakfast Forum Friday 16th March 2012

For the business community of Sunraysia, held in conjunction with local professional and community organisations, the Business Breakfast Forum will feature Mr John Daley, former Managing Director of E*TRADE Australian and currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Grattan Institute.


John Daley's presentation 'Sustainable Strategies for Mildura as an Inland City' will provide insights and explanations relating to current important topics with national and regional implications focusing on positive opportunities and outcomes. Commencing at 7:15am until 9:00am at the Grand Hotel Ballroom. Book here.


The Festival Day Saturday 17th March 2012

With a great new location on the Mildura riverfront, co-locating with the Sunraysia Farmers Market at Ornamental Lakes, Mildura.


Featuring exhibitors, guest speakers and workshops, grab some great fresh local produce, support our local farmers and producers, reduce food miles and make our community more self sufficient and sustainable.


Sunday Lecture Sunday 18th March 2012

La Trobe University's - Sustainable Sunraysia Colloquium presents:

Professor John Matin Director, Centre for Sustainable Regional Communities - La Trobe University.
'Promoting Sustainability in Local Communities. - What makes for a sustainable regional community '.

Open to all members of the public, free of charge. Commencing at 11:00am. La Trobe University, Mildura Campus.


Strawbale House Tour Sunday 18th March 2012

David Gee of Gol Gol has generously offered to open his newly built strawbale house to the public. This is Sunraysia's first strawbale house and will be open on Sunday morning 9:30am - 11:00am located at 47 Dawn Ave Gol Gol NSW (turn off the Sturt Hwy). Entry is by gold coin donation. Donations will go to the local school in Dirinumu, Papua New Guinea.
